Oral Health: A Global Burden
Oral diseases rank among the most prevalent noncommunicable diseases globally, impacting 3.7 billion people. This issue is increasingly pronounced in low and middle-income nations. Maintaining good oral health is vital for crucial functions such as eating, breathing, and speaking, as well as overall well-being.
The pain and discomfort that come with oral health issues can hinder focus, result in missed days at school or work, and lead to feelings of social isolation. If not addressed, the consequences of oral diseases on health can be severe. The good news is that many of these conditions are preventable and can be effectively treated through preventive and early treatment.
Share a Smile Grants
The Oral Health International Foundation provides monetary grants to support those less fortunate. Since 1986, the Foundation has supported over 850 grants totaling $6,000,000 around the world. The need is great!
Together, through the financial support of the Foundation and the dedication of dental professionals, we have and shall continue to enhance the quality of oral healthcare around the world.
Grant applications are accepted between March 1 - June 1.
